So I'm a Lawyer and all...

Image credit: Will & Guy's Funny Lawyer jokes
So I'm a Lawyer and all and whilst I really would like to venture into something a bit more on the creative side of the professional world Lawyering does pay the bills.

I've been in the process of
creating a website for some time now and I've finally made some progress in creating my professional online identity (Facebook definitely doesn't count).

Presenting Trinlegal to the world, for review, remarks and hopefully new clients.

I'm actually taking a risk by mentioning it on my blog here as in the Legal environment in Trinidad and Tobago advertising is still off limits. It is my personal belief that our regulations governing legal bodies and lawyers in my country are still pretty archaic since no real provisions have been thought up as yet concerning the effect the internet now has and the role it plays when it comes to marketing and the Trinidadian Legal Practice (also because we aren't even allowed to place a sign displaying our legal services anywhere but on the actual property the office is located).

But I'm a risk taker so here it goes. In fact (besides taking a risk) this is the topic of my Masters in Laws dissertation... the topic I have yet to get approved but at least I'm making some headway in the research arena...sort of...

Also, while reading up on the effect new technology has been having on the legal practice I came across this article on creating and maintaining a "virtual office". It provides information not only a lawyer can use but any office for that matter, as we move further into the 21st century and the Information Age.

Please leave me some feedback on the (still needs minor tweaking) site!

  1. I love the cleanness of the layout and the simplicity. Seeing that it is a rough draft, I am assuming more info on Lea is forthcoming. But so far so good. I like the LinkedIn link and you are beyond right - this eh for Facebook! lol.

I now need to add you to my contacts cause not only am I a South girl, but a P/Town girl. Now I have legal advice on my doorstep! Well, when I am home anyway.

  2. Thanks so much! I'm so happy you got the "clean" feel of the layout. My "webmaster" a.k.a. techie friend absolutely doesn't agree with me that a "clean" looking website will appeal to the masses more than something congested. Yes more info will come on Lea, however, she's in wedding prep mode at the moment and I suppose that says it all.

Nice to know you're from up my side! Gimme a buzz when next you're home!

  3. Nah. Sometimes less is more. I don't like very busy sites and I think a lot of people appreciate a site that gets straight to the point. Tell your webmaster, I say so. lol.
